Vivian is a native Texan who was born and raised in San Antonio. She spent her teenage years in Beaumont, Texas and graduated from Forest Park High School in 1973. Vivian received her BBA in Accounting from Lamar University in 1977 and her Master of Business Administration from University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1990.After a career in corporate accounting within the oil industry, Vivian was called to the ministry. She obtained her Certification in Christian Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2002 and her Certification in Deacon Studies from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in 2003.

Vivian joined the pastoral staff of Christ Church in June 2004 after being commissioned en route to ordination as Permanent Deacon in the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Vivian and her husband, Bob are active grandparents to three young grandsons.
